SYNOPSIS
A Change Is Gonna Come, is a fictional stage play that depicts domestic and mental abuse in the least likely place…from the pulpit of a church.
Pastor Sills is a well-educated, well-dressed, and well-liked preacher, who by man’s standards, “have it all”…a thriving congregation,
a beautiful wife, and an abundance
of material possessions. But behind closed doors he transforms into a controlling, overbearing, temperamental, “Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde”
personality who loses control of his
temper at any given moment, and physically and mentally violates his dedicated, yet fearful, wife of ten years. The consequences of his actions
could lead to “deadly” results. This is an eye-opening play that will leave its viewers “painstakingly” aware
of the effects of abuse in the church. You will experience a Christian woman’s struggle to display the attributes of a perfect first
lady on the outside, while her
self-worth and dignity is dying inside. Role: Pastor James Sills

violent incidences. After Pastor Sills’ departures, she comes and comforts her friend.

Overbearing, controlling Pastor that believe women should be seen and not heard. Like Father/Like Son! Rumor has
it that Daddy Sills abused his wife and sent her to a early grave. Special requirement: MUST BE A SINGER –
Role: Deacon Kane
Age Range of Character: Mid 30s/ 40s Body Type: Any Role Description: Pastor Sills faithful sidekick;
however; they are complete opposites. Deacon Kane is a loving and devoted husband and father, who adores his wife and treats her like
a queen.

Sister Kane openly expresses her
love and respect for her husband and doesn’t mind calling him “lord”!

Body Type: Any Role Description: A frequent Sunday guest of The Sills. Single and
happy is how Brother Tommy would
describe himself. He spends his Sunday afternoons with anyone who will cook him a home-cooked meal.

Body Type: Any Role Description: Brother Tommy’s counterpart. Young and single,
she is always advocating Women’s
Rights. Very aggressive, and certainly speaks her mind without hesitation.

Role Description: The presiding judge, who is torn between her religious convictions
and her judicial responsibilities.
She has presided over several domestic violence cases and has a soft spot for the victims.
